Peggy Gans

Greenologists was formed in 2017 to further Peggy and her partners’ mission to save the planet one boiler, one window, and one light bulb at a time! She is now the sole owner of the firm.
Ms. Gans began her career as a real estate manager in the early ‘80s on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She was part of a real estate development team that saw the renaissance of East Village. She rose from a property manager to Controller and partner of the firm which oversaw the management of 1,500 apartment units in Lower Manhattan and Harlem. In 1998, she received her law degree from Brooklyn Law School and joined the real estate law firm of Michael H. Kane and Associates where she was responsible for the management of the firm’s real estate investments in Manhattan, Philadelphia, and Syracuse. In 2002, Ms. Gans relocated to Syracuse to spend more time developing the firm’s Central NY real estate portfolio. She worked closely with the NYSERDA Multifamily programs and P.E.A.C.E., Inc., the weatherization agency for Onondaga County. She was soon smitten by the good work of her colleagues at P.E.A.C.E., Inc. and was recruited in 2005 to become the manager for their multifamily weatherization division. She was in charge of $17 million of energy improvements during ARRA program.

Cyd Cox
Project Manager
Cyd Cox is a Multifamily Retrofit Project Manager, auditor, and building modeler for Greenologists. Working with your building management, Cyd will oversee your project from start to finish.
Cyd has been a leader in energy efficiency and building science since 2005, when she launched her company Ecologic Home. Cyd conducted hundreds of home energy audits and match-making of contractors to meet the needs of her clients. During that time, Cyd worked to champion the state-wide Green Jobs, Green New York program and became a preferred High Road contractor in her local network. Through Erie Community College’s Workforce Development program, Cyd focused her experience and passion for the industry to train others. She developed courses in Building Analysis, Envelope Specialist, and Construction Math, where she taught hundreds of individuals seeking Building Performance Institute certifications in this emerging field. Cyd later joined Buffalo Energy as a single and multi-family dwelling energy auditor, building modeler, project manager, and sales lead. In addition, Cyd helped launch a property management and construction company. She provided project management that transformed derelict properties from bids and permits to rent-ready apartments and homes.
Matt Redmond
Project Manager
Matt is a Multifamily Retrofit Project Manager for Greenologists, LLC. Matt takes a “building as a system” approach to energy efficiency retrofits. He holds multiple certifications and endorsements from the EPA, OSHA, and the Building Performance Institute.
He has 40 years of experience as a tradesman and construction manager in residential and light commercial construction. His project management and residential building background emphasize finely crafted energy-efficient buildings, which led him to be the project manager on the first net-zero energy retrofit in the US (a US Department of Energy testbed project for Asdal Builders of New Jersey). Since then, Matt has consulted with the US Department of Energy, The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and The National Renewable Energy Laboratory regarding energy efficiency retrofit best practices: NREL Standard Work Specifications | Homepage | Standard Work Specifications. Before working at Greenologists, Matt worked as Director of Training at NY State Weatherization Directors Association for 13 years. He trained Weatherization and home performance contractors in Building Science and best practices for retrofitting existing structures. During that period, he also worked closely with NY State Homes and Community Renewal in developing a comprehensive training program for the most extensive weatherization program in the nation.
